Surprisingly, attention and focus issues, with or without hyperactivity and fidgetiness, is a result of the body’s being distracted by itself, and being unsure whether it is safe. Perhaps the body can’t automatically tell where it is, and is surprised by little bits of sensory information. Perhaps sensory processing isn’t automatic. Paying attention is actually a very complex skill of filtering out the unimportant. It depends on every part of the brain functioning well and linked up to other parts. Depending on how many parts aren’t optimally developed or linked will point to how many exercises are needed to mature the brain.
There’s a huge emotional relief for both the person and those around him when you can finally focus: it’s like being able to fly!
